With one of the top nightclub scenes in the world and more headliners than you can shake feather boa at, Las Vegas has quickly established itself as one of the top destinations for LGBT travellers. Both on and off the Strip, Las Vegas offers everything from pool parties to go-go dancers, with a good dose of celebrity stardust thrown in for good measure. Take a look at our guide to LGBT Vegas and start planning your next trip.
Temptation Sundays is the place to be for sun-soaked partying on the Strip. Expect small bathing suits and big fun at what has been dubbed “the best gay party” by Las Vegas Weekly, and look forward to guest DJs like The Perry Twins and DJ Diesel. Its sixth season kicks off from 17th May and runs every Sunday at Luxor from 1-7 pm.
REVO Sundays has hopped venues a few times, but its newest incarnation at Mirage’s Revolution Lounge features fierce and fabulous theme nights plus frequent drag performances and live music. Check Facebook to get on the guest list for free drinks. Doors open at 10 pm every Sunday.
Night School for Girls puts an LGBT Vegas spin on its pole dancing party class with “Night School for Gays”, where you can perfect your twerking skills before hitting the clubs. The class welcomes all shapes, sizes and skill levels so don’t be afraid learn some new tricks in the 70-minute class.
Share Nightclub, open Thursday-Saturday, is a short cab ride from the Strip and is quickly becoming the LGBT place to be. Featuring two floors of the hottest go-gos and fun theme nights, celebrity guests make regular appearances and Strip performers and dancers often stop by after work”¦so make sure to bring your best moves.
The Fruit Loop over on Paradise Road is one of the best areas to go in search of LGBT Vegas. Piranha Nightclub is the centre of the fun, with weekly events like Boylesque Wednesdays, viewing parties for RuPaul’s Drag Race and the ever-popular Drag Queen Bingo.
A little farther off Strip is The Phoenix Bar & Lounge, a local’s bar with its own quirky charm, comfy booths, friendly bartenders and live music – if you fancy taking a turn in the spotlight, make sure to get involved in the karaoke. This 24-hour venue also offers food from 4pm-4am, so there’s really no need to leave.
The Matinee Festival over Memorial Day Weekend is billed as the “biggest gay dance festival of the summer.” While it may be the only gay dance festival of the summer, that doesn’t mean it will be any less fun. Events all over town include pool parties, club nights and even a trip to Cowabunga Bay Water Park.
After another recent instalment, Dinah Vegas Weekend is already on the books for next year: 28th April – 1st May 2016. The biggest lesbian party weekend – presented by Caesars Entertainment and GirlBar – has made the move from Palm Springs and brings with it pool parties and cocktail receptions plus the famous White Party.
The marriage capital of the world now includes same sex wedding packages. Now that Nevada is on board with marriage equality, venues like the Stratosphere offer LGBT Vegas wedding ceremonies overlooking the Strip.
Las Vegas PRIDE returns from 18th – 19th September 2015, with plenty of parties and events organised across the city as well as the glittering parade through downtown. Past grand marshals have included Kathy Griffin and Joan Rivers, so look forward to some star power again this year at the family-friendly event.
