A Taste of Delhi: Our Top Short Films

By: Katie Manning

January 9, 2013

One of the world’s most exciting and vibrant cities, we can’t get enough of Delhi and all its various attractions. We’ve selected some of our top Delhi films to give you a flavour of what’s on offer here – whether wandering around a local market, visiting some of the city’s world-renowned landmarks, or seeking out an ancient Akhara for a mud wrestling match – that is if you’ve got the nerve”¦

“Delhi” by Film Lore

Instead of focussing on Delhi’s famous landmark buildings we love that Film Lore’s video opts to showcase some slightly alternative subject matter in Delhi’s wonderfully chaotic road system. A brief but atmospheric film of Delhi’s dusty roads.

“Old Delhi” by Snowline

Focusing exclusively on Old Delhi, this video by Snowline introduces us to local life in this part of the city. Fast-paced and colourful, this is a great window into the sights and sounds of Old Delhi.

“Early AM into Delhi” by Warmeye

Shot through the early morning mist from the doorway of a moving train, this video is a particular favourite. Uncovering a side to Delhi that most visitors are lucky to see, Warmeye’s footage introduces us to some of the more secluded corners of town before most of the city starts their day.

“B & T’s India Trip” by Benjamin James

We love this personal account of time spent in Delhi by Benjamin James  – especially the section shot from inside a mortised rickshaw. Taking us through quiet backstreets and out into some of Delhi’s busier neighbourhoods, there’s a great mix of city scenery in this short film.

“Mud love and Kushti” by The Source Project

Fancy testing out your mud wrestling skills? You might change your mind once you’ve seen “Mud love and Kushti” by the Source Project”¦
