Celebrating our 10th Anniversary of Flying to Las Vegas

June 11, 2010

It’s the year 2000 and something very exciting is happening – Virgin Atlantic are flying to Las Vegas for the very first time. In the same year, Steve Redgrave wins five golds at the Sydney Olympics, Michael Caine is knighted, the Queen Mother makes it to her 100th birthday, Wembley Stadium closes after 77 years and Sven-Göran Eriksson takes charge of the England football team. Doesn’t seem like that long ago, right? Well, time flies.

Happy Birthday

Las Vegas has proven to be one of our most fascinating and popular destinations, and to celebrate a whole decade of flying to Sin City there’ll be a big ol’ birthday bash at the space-age Moon nightclub at Palms Casino Resort next week – and vtravelled will be there, blogging and tweeting all the action as it happens.

It won’t just be any old party though; we’ll be treating the travel industry’s movers and shakers and press from around the world to a jam-packed three days of fun and frolics in the Nevada sunshine, staying at the newly-opened Aria hotel, hanging out with the cast of Cirque Du Soleil’s Viva ELVIS, and even fitting in a quick hop across the border into Arizona for a whirlwind trip to the Grand Canyon while we’re there.

Las Vegas Week

So next week be sure to stay tuned to the vtravelled blog because we’ll be turning red, white and blue with glittery, diamond-encrusted bells on. In neon.

We’ll be going Vegas-crazy for the entire week, paying homage to the entertainment capital of the world with features on getting married Vegas-style, finding the best free experiences in town, where to spot the most outrageous architecture (tip: it’s not all on the Strip) and an insider’s guide to Las Vegas stag weekends.

On top of all that, we’ll be posting all the latest news, gossip and photos from the event itself – and we can tell you now that we have some super-secret surprises up our sleeves so don’t forget to subscribe and follow us on Twitter – and watch this space!

And of course, if you fancy your own Las Vegas adventure then check out flights with Virgin Atlantic here.

For those going on our Press Trip to Las Vegas, here are the Terms and Conditions for the sweepstake competition.
