Christmas Wishes and a few ‘Thank Yous’ from Ruby

Happy Christmas 2016

Midwinter. Across many religions and beliefs it is a time to celebrate. A time to share with our nearest and dearest. It also marks the moment in the northern hemisphere when the days start to get longer. That’s definitely worth celebrating too. At Virgin Atlantic it’s one of our busiest times. But also one where we’re particularly humbled by all the people who trust us to fly them and look after them during the festive season. To every one of you we’d like to say ‘thank you’.

When you step into one of our UK airports in the run up to Christmas we understand you have a lot riding on your journey. Whether you’re heading home to be with your families, flying to visit friends or just jetting off on a break to escape it all, we’ve added a little bit of cheeriness to the check in and festive food to the flying.

If you’re checking in at one of our UK airports this week you’ll be able to pick up a ‘wonderful wishes’ Christmas crown. And it could just help you win a free flight. All you have to do is post a ‘where you wish for’ selfie wearing the crown and post to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #wonderfulwishes. Entries judged the most entertaining and creative will win one of three pairs of return tickets for any non-stop Virgin Atlantic route. Full terms and conditions are here – and don’t forget to have a look at some of the great posts already received on Twitter and Instagram.

In the air

xmas-lunch

Flying with us between 24–26 December? If so, you’ll be treated to a three course Christmas meal including turkey and all the trimmings free of charge. Our chefs began developing the seasonal inflight treat in June to help make travelling over Christmas even more special. In total we expect to serve up around 2,000 kilos of turkey, 100,000 sprouts, and 82,000 roast potatoes on board flights to the US, Africa, UAE and China. So thank you to whoever peeled all those spuds and put the little cross in the bottom of all those sprouts! In fact, thank you to everyone who works behind the scenes making our operation work. It’s a big team effort by lots of people from lots of different companies.

  • Mistletoe Cosmopolitan – Elegantly scented with berries and citrus then topped with Champagne. This is sure to add a sparkle to your flight
  • Winter Cranberry Julep – Made with Gentleman Jack this is a North American double header of US cranberries and Tennessee’s finest
  • Candy cane fizz – Light and stylish, a blissful alcohol-free combination of orange and cranberry lifted with lemonade

Thank you

And finally, back in June we launched Ruby – the Virgin Atlantic Blog. We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has visited us, to all our people who have contributed to it and to the IT guys (you know who you are) who helped us set it up. We look forward to bringing you lots more behind the scenes info on our people, our planes and our planet in 2017.

Wishing all our readers and contributors a fantastic Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
