Comedians Take Their Jokes to the Skies (And the Internet) at First Ever Inflight Social Media Comedy Festival

It’s official. Abbi has picked 5 of her funniest friends to join her in taking funny to an all-time high: 35,000 feet up, for the first-ever inflight comedy festival on September 28th. Be on the lookout for:
Michelle Buteau, @MichelleButeau
Tiff Stevenson, @tiffstevenson
Megan Neuringer, @MeganNeuringer
Paul Welsh, @paulbwelsh
Parker Kit Hill, @ParkerKitHill
And of course, Abbi Jacobson herself, @abbijacobson

To celebrate the launch of our fleetwide WiFi, we’re thrilled to host the first ever social media comedy festival from 35,000 feet. We’ve partnered with comedian and actress Abbi Jacobson (best known for Broad City on Comedy Central in the USA), who is enlisting five of her funniest friends to take to the skies (and the Internet) on 28 September. The comedy festival is the latest event to happen #LiveFromVirgin, a new and ongoing platform designed to highlight the incredible things that happen on our flights. The full comedian lineup will be announced in the coming days via our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages.

Laughs From Above

Abbi and her team of comedians will each perform comedy “sets” by posting tweets and Instagram Stories to their accounts from the comfort of their Virgin Atlantic seats. The comedians will each be flying from London to one of six U.S. destinations – New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, all while posting comedy bits from the skies thanks to transatlantic WiFi.

“I’m really excited about this project and the creative control that Virgin Atlantic is giving me, not only over the lineup I’m building but the form my performance takes,” said Jacobson. “I’m definitely looking to use the opportunity to experiment, take some risks, and see what happens.”

That means anything can go once showtime starts, so make sure to tune in live to get in on the fun. @VirginAtlantic will not only be hosting the event, but tweeting out prompts and questions to inspire fans following along to get involved and maybe even tell a joke or two.  Just make sure to use #LiveFromVirgin to get in on the action.

28 September can’t come soon enough. Get ready for the #LiveFromVirgin Comedy Festival. Check back here soon for more details.
