Jimmy and Vanessa Logue are total legends here at Virgin Atlantic. Not only are they superfans, who do an incredible amount of travelling with us, but they are also among the nicest folks we’ve ever met. On 3 November Jimmy and Vanessa went on their 100th Virgin Holiday, to Orange County, Anaheim and a Mexican Rivera cruise. To celebrate this incredible milestone, we chatted to Jimmy and Vanessa to find out a bit more about their story story.
The beginning of a long and happy relationship
It all started when Jimmy used to work on the ramp at Luton Airport. Back then he saw some of the charter airlines treating disabled customers with a lack of empathy. Jimmy had always dreamed of long-haul travel, but as someone who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, he vowed that if ever he flew he wanted to fly with an airline that looked after disabled customers. That wish came true when they set off on the 8 October 1991 on their very first Virgin Atlantic flight, the VS7 to Los Angeles. It was a lightbulb moment.
Love at first flight
Jimmy and Vanessa recall that first flight “it was absolutely amazing. Exactly how it should be. After the flight, we wrote to Richard to congratulate him and was delighted when he wrote back personally. From that point on our relationship got stronger”. Since then Jimmy and Vanessa have travelled with us to Boston, New York, Miami, Washington, Antigua, Barbados, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Sydney and Hong Kong. And in December they took their 100th Virgin Holiday.
Round the world highlight
With all that travelling it is hard for Jimmy and Vanessa to pick a highlight. Their favourite destination, and somewhere they’ve returned to many times, is Orange County in California. But the real highlight was a round-the-world trip that they did. “That’s something we will never forget,” said Jimmy and Vanessa. They’ve also met Richard three times, been invited to Virgin Atlantic parties and amassed a collection of Virgin Atlantic memorabilia.
The next chapter has already begun ar
Jimmy and Vanessa have already booked their 101st and 102nd holidays and they are as passionate about the Virgin brand as ever. “We didn’t think we’d be able to do what we’ve done,” they said. “We cannot thank Virgin Atlantic enough for making life that little bit easier”.
Actually, Jimmy and Vanessa, it is us that should be thanking you. 100 holidays; what a wonderful achievement. From your army of fans here at Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays thank you so much for all your custom and loyalty over the years. We can’t wait to welcome you back onboard again soon.
