For many of us, Easter can’t come soon enough this year – a chance for some well-deserved time off, and hopefully the long-awaited start of spring. If you’re taking the opportunity for a break in the sun, we’ve got the lowdown on the some of the best things to do in our hottest destinations.

Caribbean adventures

For consistently warm temperatures, there’s no surer bet than the Caribbean. Beach lovers and water babes should head to Antigua, where all kinds of sea-based adventures await. Get up close and personal with turtles, juvenile snappers, spotted eagle rays and barracudas on one of Eli’s Eco Tours with Adventure Antigua; a powercat boat trip which also takes in Great Bird Island and Jumby Bay, and offers the chance to soak in the natural jacuzzi at Hell’s Gate.

Want to experience the Caribbean’s green core? Take a trip to Grenada and head straight to Grand Etang National Park; an area of intense natural beauty high up in the island’s interior. The different types of terrain make for a varied experience – you’ll witness both woodland and rainforest, and may well spot a rare bird or two. Look out for the broad winged hawk – more commonly known as the gree-gree – and the beautiful Antillean crested hummingbird. For a Grenada adventure that’s both educational and fun, consider one of the many tour options on offer with multi-award winning Mandoo Tours.

Ready for some all-out luxury with a few killer sunsets to boot? You can’t beat St. Lucia for a room with a view. Down in the south of the island are some of the most beautiful resorts in the entire Caribbean, most with dramatic views of the twin Piton mountains at every turn. For honeymoon heaven, look no further than the blissful white beach bungalows at Sugar Beach, or get away from it all in one of the treehouse-style rooms at flower-draped Anse Chastanet.

Miami nice

The mid-spring months are a fabulous time to visit Miami, with temperatures still in the mid-70s before the real heat and humidity of summer begins. After you’ve explored the art deco South Beach district, taken a dip in Coral Gables‘ stunning Venetian Pool, or visited the extravagant Vizcaya Mansion, why not try something completely different and take a graffiti tour of Wynwood on the back of a Vespa? You can take the controls yourself or go for the pillion option if you just want to sit back and enjoy the scene.

Groovy Vancouver

If you’re looking a little further ahead than Easter, then how about sampling the outdoorsy life in Canada? Ok, so temperature-wise it’s certainly not as hot as the previous destinations, but when Vancouver takes off its winter coat the whole city comes out and rejoices. Our seasonal flights to Canada’s centre of west coast cool resume in May – perfect timing for all kinds of family fun like the International Children’s Festival or flavourful delights at the annual Eat Vancouver food and cooking festival. But most of all, it’s good to just be out in the great British Columbia landscape again, with both mountains and beaches on the doorstep.
