Entertainment for the whole family this August

By: Dave Gunner

July 31, 2019

It’s August! The kids have broken up from school and our teams across the world are pumped up and ready to fly you on your hard earned family summer holiday. Volunteers at our airports are waiting to answer your questions, and we even have ice creams at check in. Best of all, our inflight entertainment & connectivity team have created a special onboard entertainment menu perfect for the excited family travelling on their big break.

Our August highlight reel

Once onboard, Vera magazine will be in your seatback to help you choose from the hundreds of different programmes on our system. Check out the listings for our entire entertainment offering, as well as some fascinating articles all linked in some way with what’s onboard. This month we have an exclusive interview with Sarah Paulson, star of fantasy drama Glass, who talks about privilege, politics and the perks of not being a wallflower. You can also learn about the surprising Achilles heel of Captain Marvel star Brie Larson, and read a great article about the legacy of Woodstock 50 years on (perfect fodder to accompany the onboard Jimmy Hendrix and The Who selection). Span the decades by watching the incredible Apollo 11 movie, made entirely from original film shot in the 1960s (some of which was taken on the moon!) and come right up to date with eSports, the high earning global gaming phenomenon.

Suzie goes on an aeroplane

We’re particularly proud to have the cartoon Suzie goes on an aeroplane onboard, made especially for our young autistic customers. It’s adapted from a book by Charlotte Olson – who was inspired by her experience as a nursery nurse – and is designed to help autistic children cope with new situations, in this case, travelling by aircraft.

Jason Solomans and Josh Widdecombe discuss Hypothetical

And finally, there’s no better way to start or end your holiday than with some top quality comedy. If you’ve haven’t caught Josh Widdecombe’s new panel show Hypothetical yet, you’re missing a treat. Our movie critic Jason Solomans caught up with Josh to ask about the show, with hilarious results:

Here’s a quick rundown of just some of the huge selection of family movies and TV that we have onboard in August:
