Sally Williams: Senior Consultant – Talent Experience Partner

Describe your job?
I partner our business in acquiring the best talent. I speak to lots of people and build lots of relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that we hire the right people into the right roles.

What did you want to be when you grew up? Why? What options seemed open or closed to you?
I wanted to be a children’s entertainer as I love making people laugh! I then wanted to work in a hotel as a Receptionist. I didn’t get the best support in seeing what options were open to me so I started as an Office Junior at a Solicitors office!

What in your job has brought or given you the greatest satisfaction or fulfilment?
When I see people that I have hired into the business and they have progressed and been hugely successful here, it makes me feel really proud. I also love making calls to people to let them know that they have got a role with us and hearing the excitement in their voices.

More recently, I have absolutely loved the positive impact that Springboard has had on the ladies in my Cohorts and some of the successful promotions that have evolved from this.

What keeps you motivated?
Apart from chocolate and wine (!), having a great team around me who never fail to encourage and inspire me and appreciate me for who I am.

What women have inspired you?
Libby Clegg MBE – She is a Paralympian who is partially sighted. She is currently on Dancing on Ice and I think she is amazing. It just shows you that you can do anything if you put your mind to it and have a positive mental attitude along with huge courage to take a chance.

How do you think women’s equality has evolved and what needs to happen next?
It has come on leaps and bounds over the past decade with more equality than there ever was before. We need to make sure that we continue to help women with issues like confidence and self esteem to equip them to do more.

What is your role on the Springboard course?
I was lucky enough to be qualified as a Springboard Trainer in 2018 so I facilitate all of the workshops which I absolutely love.

How does Springboard help our women?
Springboard is prolific in helping our women with confidence, setting goals and giving them the courage and belief to go onto bigger and better things. We run three or four workshops over three months and the women on these build great networks and relationships between them. I absolutely LOVE seeing the change in my participants from when they start on Workshop one to when they finish on Workshop four. It fills me with pride and gives me such a great sense of achievement.
