Describe your job?
I’m the SVP Virgin Holidays & Digital. Amazing, exciting, challenging, fulfilling, rewarding…. I am part of a team who deliver unforgettable experiences and memories, who live the Virgin values to the full every day and remind me how lucky I am to be a part of a truly incredible brand.
What did you want to be when you grew up? Why? What options seemed open or closed to you?
Everything from an artist, an author, a teacher, a vet, a lawyer, a riding instructor and the list goes on….. but I never imagined I’d be doing what I am. I knew I was unlikely to pursue a career which involved STEM as it wasn’t a strength at school but I don’t think anything ever felt closed off to me. My mum was hugely supportive of me and always encouraged me to believe in myself and chase my ambitions
What in your job has given you the greatest satisfaction or fulfilment?
Always the people / teams I’ve worked with and in, and the friendships created along the way.
What keeps you motivated?
The team I work with and the opportunity we face – I’m motivated by change and transformation.
What women have inspired you?
I’d have to start with my own mum and there are too many to list throughout my life – but it’s about the qualities they show. Most often it’s around the selfless support they offer, the belief they have in themselves and others, and their unswerving faith and determination in achieving their goals
How do you think women’s equality has evolved and what needs to happen next?
I can only speak for my own experiences. I have never been treated as anything other than equal, always been provided with the same opportunities as others on my journey and what happens next is in my own gift to make and take.
As a female leader, what has been the most significant barrier in your career?
What’s one leadership lesson you’ve learned in your career?
Open mind and open ears.
