Virgin Atlantic cabin crew celebrate 20 years of flying from Manchester

We like Manchester a lot and this month celebrate 20 years of flying from this northern gateway.  With booming creative and technology industries plus great shopping, nightlife and restaurants, Manchester has become a headline act. Our job is to connect it with like-minded cities. Which is why from next year we are adding  New York JFK, Boston and San Francisco to our Manchester services. These will be in addition to our current flights from Manchester to Orlando, Atlanta, Las Vegas and Barbados. On top of this Virgin Holidays have also enhanced their presence with a new retail store.

There are 22 million people living within 2 hours of Manchester and our new schedules give them direct access to some of the best business and holiday destinations in the world. Plus the city does have a bit of an association with the colour red.

On Monday 4 July we’ll be marking the occasion by celebrating our #maniversary and taking over the city in true Virgin style. If you are in Manchester today (4 July) keep an eye out for our crew who’ll be out and about in the city centre. They’ll be particularly looking out for anybody wearing stars and stripes and have a few nice surprises to hand out. Regular updates and the latest news on our  #maniversary will be published on our Facebook and Twitter accounts throughout the day.

#Maniversary Terms & Conditions
To enter this competition, you must:
    1. be 18 years of age, and
    2. be a UK resident, and
    3. have a Facebook or Twitter username
    4. be able to submit your entry via Facebook or Twitter (via app or online)
  1. post where in the US you would like to fly to and why with the hashtag #Maniversary
  1. Destination must be a Virgin Atlantic route destination
  2. This promotion is not open to employees of Virgin Atlantic, their families, their agencies or any companies directly connected with the creation and administration of this promotion.
  1. Entries must be submitted by midnight on 4th July 2016.
  2. The best 9 entries, as judged by Virgin Atlantic, will win an American themed hamper containing confectionary. One overall winner will receive a Grand Prize, which is an American themed hamper containing confectionary and two Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd tickets to any US route that Virgin Atlantic flies / ‘VS’ ticketed destination (the “Prize”).
  1. The Prize is subject to our Terms and Conditions of Carriage which can be found at: http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en/travel-information/customer-service/conditions-of-carriage.html
  2. The Grand Prize must be redeemed in full by 4th June 2017. The Grand Prize will be forfeited if it is not redeemed and used by this date and no alternative or compensation will be given.
  1. If Virgin Atlantic are unable to contact any Prize winner via their Facebook or Twitter account (used to enter the competition), within 14 days of initial contact, the prize will be forfeited and another winner will be selected from the original entries.
  1. Once the Grand Prize booking has been confirmed no further changes are permitted. If a booking is cancelled no alternative tickets will be issued.
  2. The Grand Prize winner and their chosen companion must travel together. If the Prize winner wishes to travel alone, the second ticket will be forfeited.
  3. Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd’s schedules are subject to change without notice.
  1. In the event that any of Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd’s flight programme or operations are altered, suspended, cut-back or cancelled, we are unable to guarantee that any affected Grand Prize flights will be honoured. If we are able to transfer the Grand Prize to another airline, travel will be for economy/coach class only, subject to availability. No refund or part refund will be given for any alternation or cancellation of the Grand Prize in these circumstances.
  2. The Grand Prize does not include any spending money, accommodation, transfers, nor any other costs incurred by the prize winner and their companion throughout the duration of the trip.
  3. The Grand Prize does not include insurance. It is your responsibility to arrange whatever cover you need yourself and to consider how participating in any reward activity or offer may affect any existing policies such as personal accident and life insurance. You may be required to provide proof of your insurance policy to us.
  4. Grand Prize does not include the cost nor arrangement of any applicable passenger visas, taxes, fees, charges and surcharges, which will be charged to and payable by each passenger. The amount of these is subject to change.
  5. The Flight Prize available is subject to exclusion dates as set out below.
Tickets cannot be redeemed for travel during the following dates (“Exclusion Dates”):
  • 20th July 2016 – 15th September 2016
  • 15th December 2016 – 15th January 2017
  • 4th – 27th April 2017
NB Weekends, school and public holidays will fill quickly and Promoter cannot guarantee availability. Some flights may already be booked and consequently have no seats available in the applicable booking class. Winners should try to book as much in advance as possible.
  1. The Prizes are not transferable to family members or any other named person.
  2. The Grand Prize may not be used in conjunction with any other promotion or promotional fare mounted by Virgin Atlantic or any third party.
  3. By entering this promotion, the Prize winners agree that Virgin Atlantic shall be permitted to provide to third parties on request, the name and area of residence of the Prize winners.
  4. The Prize winners and their companion accept the prize at their own risk.
  5. Entries that are invalid, illegal or are illegible will be disqualified. Entries that do not meet the requirements outlined in clause 1. (e) will also be discounted.  
  6. No purchase necessary.
  7. Virgin Atlantic’s decision regarding selection of the Prize winners (including the Grand Prize) and the awarding of the Prizes are final and no further correspondence shall be entered into concerning the matter.
  8. Virgin Atlantic reserves the right to withdraw or cancel this competition at any time.
  9. The Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be sold, bartered or substituted for any other prize.  No cash alternative is available.  Virgin Atlantic reserves the right to substitute the Prizes for an alternative equivalent prize if for any reason beyond its control, it is unable to award the Prizes.
  10. By entering this competition, the Prize winners agree to release the Promoter from any liability whatsoever for any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the promotion or with the acceptance, possession, attendance at or use of any Prize (except death or personal injury caused by the Promoter’s negligence, for fraud, or otherwise as prohibited by law). By redeeming the Grand Prize the Prize winner’s companion agrees to an identical release and accepts the Grand Prize at his/her own risk.

Competition announcement
