The new year in Sin City means fresh entertainment options in a town that continues to explode with top talent in music, comedy and theatre. MGM Resorts International is opening the brand new Las Vegas Arena and The Axis at Planet Hollywood adds several new headliners to its roster. Here’s a sneak peak at the best new shows in Vegas in 2016.
LA Comedy Club
LA Comedy Club has just opened its doors at Stratosphere, offering hilarious comedians nightly. There’s a new line-up every week, featuring the best touring comedians as seen on Comedy Central and the late night circuit, as well as talented local up-and-comers. If that’s not enough to pique your interest, there’s a $20 all-you-can-drink add on.
Shows are at 8 p.m. nightly, with an additional 10 p.m. show on Fridays and Saturdays.
Jennifer Lopez at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood
Jenny From the Block has added a few sequins to become Jenny From the Strip as she headlines at Planet Hollywood. One of the most anticipated new shows in Vegas, her residency is entitled “All I Have,” and will feature hits like, “Waiting for Tonight” and, “If You Had My Love”, as well as dance moves to rival Britney’s.
January 20th, 22nd, 23rd, 27th, 29th and 30th; February 3rd, 5th and 6th; May 22nd, 25th, 28th and 29th; June 1st, 3rd, 4th, 8th, 11th and 12th 2016.
Riverdance – The 20th Anniversary World Tour at the Smith Center
It’s been 20 years since the Irish dance phenomenon first took the world by storm. Traditional Irish dancing captured the hearts of those outside The Emerald Isle, who didn’t necessarily grow up with it, and became a global hit thanks to the cast of Riverdance. The energetic performance has been seen by 25 million people to date, and comes to Las Vegas in January 2016.
From January 26th – 31st 2016.
Garth Brooks at Las Vegas Arena
The country legend doesn’t perform too much anymore, so Las Vegas has been longing for his hits since his Wynn residency ended in 2012. The “Thunder Rolls” once again at the new arena.
June 24th and 25th; July 2nd – 4th 2016.
The Bridges of Madison County at Smith Center
The best-selling novel and critically acclaimed film has gone on to become a two-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical. The musical tells the love story of an unlikely pair through expressive ballads sure to make you contemplate your own relationships.
From February 23rd – 28th 2016.
Billy Idol at House of Blues at Mandalay Bay
The signature snarl is still in full effect as the British rock star brings his punk rock hits to the House of Blues. Though he’s 60 years old, you wouldn’t know it from his vocals on classics like, “White Wedding” and, “Dancing with Myself.”

George Strait at Las Vegas Arena
The “King of Country Music” will be one of the first performers to christen the new MGM Resorts International arena. The Country Music Hall of Fame star will perform three pairs of dates with opener Kacey Musgraves. Look forward to tracks from his new album and favourites like, “Check Yes or No” and, “I Cross My Heart.”
April 22nd and 23rd; September 9th and 10th; December 2nd and 3rd 2016.
Lionel Richie at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood
Lionel Richie is literally bringing All the Hits to Vegas; that’s the name of his new Planet Hollywood residency. “All Night Long” and, “Hello” may have some miles on them now, but they’re still as beloved as they were the first time around.
April 27th and 30th; May 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 15th and 18th; September 21st, 24th, 25th and 28th; October 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th, 9th and 12th 2016.
Tracy Morgan at Mirage
The Aces of Comedy series gets a breath of fresh air when the “30 Rock” star and stand up comedian hits the stage this May. One of our favourite new shows in Vegas, look forward to fresh jokes from the “SNL” alum as he makes his debut at Mirage.
May 6th and 7th 2016.
Rascal Flatts at The Joint
The country group follows in the footsteps of rockers like KISS with a residency of a different genre for the Hard Rock crowd. The most awarded country group of the past decade brings hits like, “Bless the Broken Road” and, “My Wish” during their Rhythm & Roots residency.
February 17th, 19th, 20th, 24th, 26th and 27th; March 2nd, 4th and 5th 2016.
In addition to these new shows, a slew of superstar headliners are continuing their runs into 2016 in Vegas. Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Reba, Brooks & Dunn and Elton John all headline at the Colosseum. Britney Spears and Pitbull are back for more at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood. And though it’s moving to The Rio, musical “Rock of Ages” will keep on rocking and “Jersey Boys” carries on at Paris Las Vegas. Whether it’s a Vegas veteran or an act new to the Strip, 2016 has plenty to offer to keep you entertained.
