Welcome to our round-up of the things that have caught our eye on our travels (across the information super highway) this week. Travel tales, amusing anecdotes and interesting images from around the world…
Glamour, Snow, Valentine’s
This week, we’ve accompanied some stylish fashionistas to the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week, and we’ll be bringing you their exclusive take on all the goings-on very soon. In the meantime, check out what our guest Kirsten Knox, otherwise known as the Clothes Whisperer, had to say about her first day.
As you probably know, NY has been inflicted with some serious winter weather over the last week or two. At least this photographer, Glark, found something to smile about: check out his fantastic photo taken outside Manhattan’s Museum of Natural History.
And staying in New York, did you know that there’s an annual design competition to build a Valentine’s inspired sculptural installation in Times Square? This year’s winner is called ‘Lighthearted’ and will be held aloft by volunteers – if you’re visiting the city between 10th – 20th Feb, you could even take part.
Rising Sun fun
With spring around the corner, we’ve also been talking about Japan, where cherry blossom rules. We also stumbled across this video of the great ‘scramble’ in Tokyo’s Shibuya district.
And if you’re considering the land of the rising sun and you’re an animal lover make sure you stop in at one of Tokyo’s cat cafés.
Witty and Weird
If you like a hotel that goes that extra mile, how about bedtime stories or a human bed warmer? Take a little look at the most bizarre hotel jobs in the world.
And finally…A massage for a Barbie doll? A McDonald’s onboard? Some of the best travel anecdotes we’ve heard come from our own crew, check out Our Strangest In-flight Requests.
