Win tickets to a 2015 BFI London Film Festival Screening

***This competition is now closed***

If you’re a film fanatic like us, you’ll no doubt agree that one of the best things about travelling is the chance to see your favourite movie locations in real life. Who wouldn’t relish the opportunity to do a little Rocky jog up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, fly over the Jurassic Park waterfalls of Kauai or wander the Mean Streets of Scorsese’s Little Italy in New York?

But what if you were in charge? If you could pick any destination for a film you would be acting in or directing, where would it be, and why? Tells us your fantasy film location in the comments below, and you could win tickets to a BFI London Film Festival screening of Stephen Frear’s critically acclaimed Lance Armstrong drama The Program. For more details, read on…

October will soon be upon us, which means it’s almost time for one of our favourite events of the year. It’s no secret that we love movies, so we’re delighted to be a main sponsor and airline partner for the prestigious 59th BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express®, which takes place from 7-18 October at venues across London. Just like last year, we’ll be flying international film talent and VIP guests into the capital from around the world for a 12 day extravaganza of galas, premieres, screenings and all-round cinema excellence. And with our award winning inflight entertainment system Vera, those guests can sit back and enjoy their finest work during their flight to London.

Last year’s festival showcased a number of films which went on to achieve great things – including multiple acting nominations and a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for festival opener The Imitation Game  – and this year’s programme looks set to do the same. From a lineup of 238 fiction and documentary features, including 16 World Premieres and 40 European Premieres, the highlights include Michael Fassbender playing Steve Jobs in Danny Boyle’s eponymously-titled biopic; Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara in 1950s romantic drama Carol; Tom Hiddleston as Dr. Robert Laing in High Rise, based on the satirical novel by J.G Ballard, and Suffragette starring Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter and Meryl Streep, which tells the story of ordinary British women fighting for the right to vote at the turn of the last century and is the choice for the Opening Night Gala.

The Virgin Atlantic Gala

It goes without saying that one of the events we’re most looking forward to is our own Virgin Atlantic Gala on Sunday 11 October at the Odeon Leicester Square, and we’re thrilled to present Scott Cooper’s chilling new crime drama Black Mass starring Johnny Depp and Benedict Cumberbatch. Set in 1970s Boston, the film tells the story of Irish mob Godfather James “Whitey” Bulger (Depp), the brother of a state senator who became an FBI informant to destroy a Mafia family encroaching on his turf.

The Program

Stephen Frear’s gripping portrayal of disgraced American cyclist Lance Armstrong is based on the book Seven Deadly Sins by Sunday Times journalist David Walsh, who relentlessly pursued the cyclist in search of the truth about his seven Tour de France wins. Starring Ben Foster as Armstrong and Chris O’Dowd as Walsh, the movie has been described as a tour de force, with Foster’s performance already being tipped for awards season.
