Here in the UK our summer appears to have come to an end, not that we’ve had much of one to write home about this year. So it’s around about now that we start to cast our eyes south and begin dreaming of all the faraway places on our route map.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be taking a more in-depth look at some of the red hot destinations that we and Virgin Holidays can take you to this winter, to help you decide upon the perfect winter sun holiday. We’ll be bringing you insights, tips and suggestions for some of the most glamorous Caribbean islands, the exciting cities of Asia, the wildest plains of Africa and the desert heat of Dubai. We’ll take a close up look at some of our favourite places to stay, the best things to see and do, and the most delicious places to eat and drink. And we’ll help you to squeeze every last drop out of your destination by digging just a little bit deeper to find the lesser known experiences that turn a trip from simply special to truly memorable.
In the meantime, here’s just a handful of the places we’ll be exploring to put you in a holiday hunting frame of mind…
There’s nothing like a bracing early morning dip at Sydney‘s famous Icebergs Pool at Bondi Beach to start the day off right.
Just after sunrise on a game drive through one of South Africa‘s game reserves is a great time to enjoy the stillness and wait for a hippo to appear
Florida‘s many theme parks and attractions are not just filled with high speed rides and adrenaline thrills – the parks of the southern state are home to some of the most varied birdlife in all of North America.
Out beyond the snazzy hotels, beautiful spas, high end restaurants and glitzy shopping malls, much of Dubai‘s life is lived on the water.
Havana‘s street life is legendary, but don’t forget to look up. There’s often even more going on behind the lines of laundry and wrought iron balconies adorning the colourful buildings.
Thinking of going to Jamaica but don’t want to spend all your time on the beach? The cliff diving is probably best left to locals, but the island has some seriously good hiking and climbing opportunities in the Blue Mountains and Rio Grande Valley.
