Dubbed the “˜live music capital of the world’, Austin is known for its extraordinary abundance of veteran musicians and dynamic up-and-coming artists. People say music is everywhere in Austin, from coffee shops to the city’s outdoor spaces. But with a scene that encompasses musical genres from country and blues to rock and Latin fusion, it’s the diversity that draws people in. Our Ultimate Austin Playlist gives you a flavour of this eclectic musical offering.

To take you on a journey through Austin music, we’ve included country artists like Jesse Dayton – the honkytonk and rockabilly musician who’s played with greats like Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson – and rockabilly artists, The Cornel Hurd Band. Other musicians on the soundtrack take on Austin’s varied musical fusion, such as White Ghost Shivers, who name jazz, swing, hillbilly and ragtime among their many influences. And, along with the classics, we’ve included some more recent additions to the Austin music scene, like Mo-town influenced indie pop and soul band, Suite 709.

Before you set off on your trip to Austin, take a listen to these local tracks to really get into the Texan spirit.
