Autumn is fast approaching, which means the UK’s largest and most prestigious movie event will soon be upon us. The 58th annual BFI London Film Festival runs from 8-19 October 2014, and as an airline known for our commitment to film we’re thrilled to announce that Virgin Atlantic will be one of the main sponsors of this illustrious celebration of cinema. As part of our involvement, we’ll be providing flights for VIP guests of the Festival who will be flying over for the red carpet events taking place over the 12 days of galas, premieres and screenings across the capital.

The BFI London Film Festival has a long-established reputation for showcasing the most original and visionary works from the international world of cinema, with a diverse and distinctive programme of films and events from both established and emerging artists. This year’s festival will screen a total of 248 features across 17 venues, including 16 World Premieres and 38 European Premieres, plus a broad range of interviews, master classes and other special events. Highlights include festival opener The Imitation Game; the stylish biopic of British mathematician and WWII codebreaker Alan Turing, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley, and the rave-reviewed psychological thriller Foxcatcher starring Steve Carell and Siena Miller, which will be presented at the American Express Gala. There will also be screenings of animated shorts and archive films, including the newly-restored silent British film The Battles of Coronel and Falkland Islands, premiering at the London Film Festival Archive Gala.

Win tickets to a London Film Festival screening

Fancy soaking up the atmosphere of the UK’s most prominent film event? To celebrate our sponsorship of the festival, we’re offering the opportunity to win 5 pairs of tickets to a screening of Kill Me Three Times at the Odeon West End on Saturday 18th October 2014.

Kill Me Three Times

Suspenseful and darkly comic thriller Kill Me Three Times is the latest feature from Australian writer and director Kriv Stenders, starring Simon Pegg in the somewhat unlikely role of a professional assassin in a laid-back Aussie beach town south of Perth. Full of hilarious and sometimes gruesome twists and turns, the film has garnered great reviews since its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month.
